It was very hard for my family and me to start our life in America. We had to start everything from the beginning. Everything was new for us; country, different places, and, of course, different language. We realized that we needed to learn the language to communicate with people. We were looking everywhere, but there were only evening classes which I couldn't attend because of my small children. I was very surprised when I found out about Valley Even Start program.
The main reason why I was so happy to find was that only this school provided babysitting for my children (5 and 3 years old). I could not let this opportunity go by. This was an excellent find for me.

Furthermore, I was faced with another problem. I didn't have transportation. Another surprise was waiting for me. This blessed program provided transportation. This made me really happy.
In addition, this wonderful program offered for my children and me hot lunches every day. Now my children were supervised, safe, and fed, while I had an opportunity to study English as a second language.

But this wasn't an end of the educational opportunities which Even Start provided. The next year I was able to join GED class and could continue my education. I was very glad to meet such wonderful people like Michele Holovach, the director who helped me very much.

It is always enjoyable to have understanding and intelligent teachers like Jo-Ann smith and Cheryl Newland, who always share their knowledge with us.

Also, I find parenting classes with Jessica Grant very helpful. She teaches all my friends and me how to be an educated parent. Even CPR class seemed very helpful. If there is a dangerous situation, I think I will be able to help my child first until the ambulance comes.

This program also provided families trips to museums, the circus, the theatre, and zoo. These trips brought to our children many educational experiences and, of course, fun.

But what is so impressive is our classroom atmosphere. Every student becomes friend to you and part of a big family. Everybody helps each other and you always feel moral support.

In conclusion I believe that all my friends, who entered this program, will agree with me that this school is very helpful for immigrants who are starting their new life in America. May God bless all the people who are working here.
